On Saturday, November 4, 2023, MUCC’s On the Ground program will be co-hosting a free chainsaw safety course and stewardship workday with Fenner Nature Center in collaboration with local chainsaw expert, Charity Barnes.
The course will run from 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday and will include a classroom portion where participants will learn the basics of chainsaw safety and a field portion where they will be able to practice their new skills on-site by using chainsaws to remove a number of maple trees that are encroaching on an undesirable area of the park.
All necessary equipment will be provided to use during this safety course including chainsaws and personal protective equipment. Free lunch, drinks, and snacks will be provided throughout the day. Please dress accordingly with layers and sturdy work boots, and be ready to spend multiple hours outside in the unpredictable November weather.
Registration is REQUIRED to attend. Participants must be 18 years or older. Please note that only 20 spaces are available in this course. If you registered but are no longer able to attend, please send an email to Kristina Kennedy at kkennedy@mucc.org so we can open up the spot to someone else.
Once registered, you will receive an email from MUCC detailing the exact meeting location and other important information about the program.
Please contact MUCC Habitat Program and Partnerships Coordinator Kristina Kennedy at kkennedy@mucc.org or Madison Ostrander at volunteer@mynaturecenter.org with any questions regarding this event.
