THE GALLERY AT FENNER

Fenner Nature Center’s gallery space inside the Susan and Jack Davis Nature Pavilion strives to communicate the history and ecology of natural spaces through ecological and artistic endeavors. Our exhibitions build on a community model that emphasizes the natural synergy between the arts and the environment.

Upcoming Ecological Art Exhibition:

Sunrises & Smokestacks: Deconstructing the divide between urban and wild spaces

Opening with the building’s ribbon cutting on September 6**, the gallery’s inaugural exhibition is titled “Sunrises & smokestacks: Deconstructing the divide between urban & wild spaces.” As a nature center situated within Lansing’s city limits, we recognize and appreciate the juxtaposition of these spaces traditionally thought of as separate. For this exhibition, artists are invited to question, explore and challenge the notion that metropolitan and natural elements cannot or do not overlap.

Eligibility

Artists, ages 18 and older, working in all media and styles including time-based and installation artists, are encouraged to apply either individually or as a group so long as the submission aligns with the exhibition theme.

At this time, we are only accepting 3D media submissions, as we have accepted as many 2D submissions as we are able.

The Gallery

The galleries’ walls are made of unbacked ¾” drywall with studs available when necessary. Walls are 10’ high and the ceilings are open for suspending installation work. The gallery has sealed concrete floors and standard electrical outlets.

The gallery is open to the public Tuesday-Thursday 10am-4pm and Saturday Noon-4pm during exhibition dates.
