MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL

Maple Syrup Festival is back, March 23, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Experience the magic of Michigan’s sugaring season at Fenner Nature Center’s Maple Syrup Festival! Join us for a day of family-friendly fun and exploration as we celebrate Michigan’s rich heritage of maple syrup production.

Discover the art and science of maple syrup production through hands-on demonstrations of various sap boiling techniques, including traditional Native American sugaring logs, homesteader kettles, long pans, and modern evaporators. Learn about tree-tapping methods and old transportation systems like the yoke lift while immersing yourself in the sights, sounds, and aromas of the sugaring process.

In addition to the savory delights and educational experiences, explore maple syrup displays in our Visitor Center and browse through Fenner’s Explore Store for unique maple-themed gifts and souvenirs. Engage in interactive activities where you can make your own natural spiles, identify trees ready for tapping, and learn fascinating facts about Sapsuckers and their role in the ecosystem.

FLAPJACKS FOR FENNER

This year, our fundraiser breakfast is back too! The Guinness World Record Flapjack Flippers, Chris Cakes will be serving up pancakes with high flying antics and of course, a side of maple syrup. Every ticket purchased for the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast “Flapjacks for Fenner” will go directly to support the nature center.
