Description

This is a paid program ($8 for general admission, $5 for members).

This program has a limited number of participants, so please RSVP  if you plan to attend!

Location: Fenner Nature Center

This program is designed for all ages. Most of the program will take place outdoors, so please dress for the weather. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, flashlights, and headlamps or borrow one of ours.

Hike details: Mostly flat, with occasional inclines. Both paved and dirt trails. 60-75 minutes.

Experience Fenner at night! Join naturalists for a guided walk through our forest, prairie, and wetlands after sunset. As we hike, we’ll search for nocturnal animals and observe the night sky. Listen for frog calls by our ponds, and learn how to identify some of Michigan’s 13 frog and toad species by sound. Gaze at the evening sky and learn the stories behind some of our familiar constellations. Conditions permitting, we’ll use telescopes to observe a planetary conjunction between our two brightest planets as Jupiter and Venus meet in the constellation Gemini.
