Fenner Conservancy values a Board composed of a demographic mix of people which is representative of our community at large. This includes national origins, languages, ethnicities, races, skin colors, cultures, generations, religions, spiritualities, socioeconomic backgrounds, gender identities and sexual orientations as well as skills, abilities, customs, values, behavioral styles and beliefs.

The Board strives to recruit membership demonstrating a diversity of highly developed skill sets and representing a broad area of experience, including but not limited to:

  • Environmental Education
  • Arts and culture
  • Infrastructure and facilities
  • Public policy
  • Real estate and land management

About Fenner Conservancy

Every day is full of wonder at Fenner, and you don’t need to be a nature or education specialist to help us connect people with nature here in the heart of Lansing.

At Fenner Conservancy, thousands of people’s lives are enriched yearly by their connections with nature. Fenner Nature Center and Fenner Nature Preschool are the places where turtles swim, beavers gnaw, eagles fly, and so much more. But this is also where YOU thrive and where our community comes to connect with one another.

Fenner Conservancy’s Board of Directors is devoted to anti-racist practices and policy and dismantling systems designed to benefit and protect not all people but only a privileged few. We are committed to Fenner being an inclusive and safe space for everyone. We do not tolerate prejudice or discrimination. People of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and younger people are currently underrepresented on our board, and we encourage applications that will expand the diversity of our membership to reflect our community better.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

If you aren’t able to commit to a board position or think your skills may be best used another way, please also consider joining one of our committees or volunteering with Fenner in other ways. Click HERE for more information about our other volunteering opportunities.
