Join our naturalists for a lantern-guided walk through the snow. Snowshoes are the perfect way to travel through Fenner’s snow-laden trails while learning about winter ecology. No experience is necessary; program has a maximum of 10 participants, so call early to reserve your spot! If there is not enough snow to snowshoe, we will still head out on the trail for a winter night hike.

Winter Seed Sowing Workshop

Learn how you can plant seeds for your garden in the middle of winter! Make mini-greenhouses out of recycled materials that can be kept outdoors even in the coldest of temperatures. Come spring, you will have sturdy seedlings that are ready to be transplanted into your vegetable garden and flower beds. Supplies and seeds from plants native to Michigan will be provided.

Decorate A Tree For Wildlife

It can be tough to be an animal in winter! Show your love for nature by decorating a tree for wildlife. Participants in this class will learn how animals find their food in winter and make a selection of tasty treats and ornaments that they can take home, or hang on the trees to help our furry and feathered friends get through the cold months ahead. This class is recommended for ages 5 through 12.
