Join our naturalists for a guided walk through the snow. Snowshoes are the perfect way to travel through Fenner’s snow-laden trails while learning about winter ecology. No experience is necessary; program has a maximum of 10 participants, so call early to reserve your spot! If there is not enough snow to snowshoe, we will still head out on the trail for a winter hike.

Winter Seed Sowing Workshop

Winter can be challenging, especially if you’re a tiny seed! Learn all about the amazing adaptations of Michigan native plant seeds and how winter actually helps them survive and thrive. Then, get your hands dirty creating a mini-greenhouse out of recycled materials and planting some seeds to take home with you.

All supplies are included in the ticket price. Open to participants 8 and up with an adult.

Winter Seed Sowing Workshop

Learn how you can plant seeds for your garden in the middle of winter! Make mini-greenhouses out of recycled materials that can be kept outdoors even in the coldest of temperatures. Come spring, you will have sturdy seedlings that are ready to be transplanted into your vegetable garden and flower beds. Supplies and seeds from plants native to Michigan will be provided.
