Would you like to learn how to identify Michigan mammals by their skulls, bones, and teeth? Celebrate “spooky season” in this hands-on workshop, where participants will test their identification skills using real specimens. From weasel to woodchuck and mouse to moose, you’ll go beneath the surface to discover how each species’ morphological adaptations give them unique advantages.
Participants will receive a custom dichotomous key for use in identifying 15+ Michigan mammals by skull and jaws.
Location: Visitor Center Classroom (Fenner Nature Center)
This program is designed for adults and youths ages 12+. Participants will handle fragile specimens and interact with technical diagrams and jargon. This program will take place indoors.
